…..On Thursday morning, January 29th, 2009.  Helio Gracie at age 95 passed away.  He was truly a dynamic man who revolutionized his system and brought it to the world.  I can honestly say that not only did his teachings impact me very, very positively but also thousands upon thousands of other people around the world.   He spread his art around the world with the help of his children and their students.  He was a Brazilian national hero a fierce competitor an international author and more.  Most of all he lived a healthy and good life and put family first!  My hat is of to you Helio Gracie and I wish your family the very best.

Following are some videos that feature Helio Gracie the founder of Brazilian Jiujitsu!

Going Right Along With Recognizing Reality…..

…..Going right along with recoznizing reality is also realizing why you train.  With each person this will be different.  Some people may train for fun or to compete in a martial sport.  Other’s may train for a hobby.  These reasons and more are all good.  However, those who really recognize what the martial sciences are for will train not only to protect themselves but also their loved ones.

Recognizing Reality!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 27, 2009 by Brian VanCise

…..Almost everyone who reads this blog trains in the martial sciences.  Not everyone but almost everybody.  One thing we as martial practitioners need to do is to remember what these skill sets are for and what happens out there in the real world.  I think it is very important to regularly read the daily local newspaper even if it is on line and also the US and world news.  While trying to keep up with just the day to day activities that happen I also pay special attention to the police updates where they tell if a robbery happened, assault, murder, DUI, etc.  I not only look for certain things like was a weapon/tool used in a robbery, etc. but in my local area I am also looking for trends.  Some of these trends include are home break ins happening more frequently, is robbery on the rise, etc.  This can give you a base line idea of what is happening around you.  Now, not everything gets into the paper.  As a matter of fact quite a bit of the criminal activity around you never gets even close to being there.  So you have to also factor that in.  In the real world crime happens and people are assaulted and cars are stolen and yes home break ins do occur.  They can happen to anyone at any time so it is important to recognize this as reality so that you can take steps to protect yourself!

Pressure Nerve Point Intensive!

…..So for those of us that trained yesterday I can imagine that we are all pretty sore from working on the Pressure Nerve Points of IRT.  PNP’s in IRT are used in a holistic manner in conjunction with movement, limb immobilization, positioning, limb destruction, vital points, etc.  We do not I guess you would say focus on one thing but after training bring it all together in one big picture.  Needless to say the group we had yesterday I believe really enjoyed the training and their eyes were opened to effective pressure nerve point utilization.

Here are a couple of photos from the intensive:

…..During the training we concentrated on Standing and Grappling techniques and in the end showed how PNP’s can help you in a real personal protection situation.

If you are interested in knowing how our PNP system works in IRT feel free to purchase our Pressure Nerve Point E-book.

IRT Pressure Nerve Point Intensive Is Today!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on January 25, 2009 by Brian VanCise

…..Today a small group of IRT practitioners will be getting together and training in the method of Pressure Nerve Points that we study.  Simple, direct PNP training around the large nerve points on the human body.  We will look at utilizing them for control and maneuverability and also motor dysfunction.   PNP’s should be utilized in conjunction with vital points, limb immobilization and destruction, etc.  They are not the holy grail in martial training but one more tool in the tool box so to speak.
